Imagination Asylum is the Brainchild of Rich Dufresne. Rich
started sculpting in 1994, when he could not find figures of
characters he and his kids liked. He started out customizing
figures and then began
designing and sculpting
his own concepts after
winning several action figure
design contests. Designing
science fiction and fantasy
characters since high
school, Rich's love for the
weird and unusual started
when he was in grade
school and saw Star Wars.
He began drawing and kit-
bashing models to create
his own unique concepts. Dreaming of working in special effects
until his love for comic books and comic characters drew him
into conceptualizing, drawing, and sculpting his own characters.
Rich resides in Barre, Vermont with his wife Cherlyn, who has
been part of the driving force behind him to help keep him guided
and grounded. Rich has two children, Ashley and Jeremy also
budding artists. Rich's family has been a positive force in this
venture. Rich recently graduated from College, where he fine
tuned his art skills and earned a degree in business. But he can't
do it all...so here is the real talent!
Matthew Sylvestter joined the team in 2005. A native of Maine,
matthew has spent most of his life using his imagination in his
artwork. Influenced by the art of Star Wars when he was ten,
he he dove into all aspects
of art, using it to create his
own creatures, monsters,
and worlds. A graduate of
the Maine College of Art,
Matthew took his skills to
the world of comic books.
Working for two indepen-
dent comic companies as an
artist  and art director, he
worked on such titles as
"Chiron" and "Scorpion" as well as cover art for various titles.
After doing comics for a few years, he moved on as an
independent illustrator doing storyboards, character design,
book illustrations, and advertisement work. Now living in
Vermont with his wife Deborah and daughter Annora, Matthew
makes furniture and runs his illustration studio Cellar Door
Studios from their home in East Calais, Vermont. Matt's designs
and illustration work has breathed new life and direction into
the Asylum's plans to make a better Toy.
Harry Klug is also from Barre, Vermont. A big fan of all things
Anime and all things Cartoon. Harry is cool and laid back, and
easy going, but when it comes to his art and Toy Designs, there
is nothing laid back about
them. Harry's art is detailed
and shows hints of his love
for Anime. At 6' 4" if you
don't buy our toys we may
send him to your door. Umm..
okay we won't............Really!!
Chris Dufresne is Rich's brother, although there is no simularity.
Chris is an avid collector of transformers and comic books. He
loves Spiderman, which we think rubbed off on him from Rich's
love of comics and all things
Spider. Chris helps Rich's
wife keep Rich sane and
helps keep things running
smooth as Vice President
He also helps come up with
some pretty cool
concepts. Chris and Rich
also build cars. They can do
some pretty cool stuff with a
wrench, a paint gun, and
fiberglass. Chris has an edu-
cation in computers, studying Computer Science and
Technology in College, so keep an eye out for some digital stuff.
He also studied Art Graphics and Printing Technologies. Chris
also has business management experience which helps keep
the wheels turning.
Jeremy Dufresne is Rich's
15 year old son. Jeremy
joined the team in Dec.
2008. Jeremy has a love
for creating, be it drawing
or sculpting. His favorite
medium is Willow
Products sculpting wax
(Vapor, Fuse, Zen), and
Super Sculpey. Jeremy
loves video games,
especially World of
Warcraft. He also loves
Sci-Fi movies and TV
shows, some of his
favorites are The Mummy,
Indiana Jones, Sliders,
Heroes, and The Tick
cartoon.
Ashley Dufresne is Rich's
18 Year old daughter.
Ashley joined the team in
March 2009. Ashley has a
love for all art Japanese,
both Manga and Anime.
Ashley has an art
background from personal
training and some from
high school and college.
Ashley's art has a unigue
feel to it and will bring
some pretty interesting toy
designs. Ashley has vast
computer experience with
Photoshop and other art
programs. Watch for toy
designs and statues by her.
